Keep Pets/Children Away from Work Zone

Ask dogs, cats, and children under age 10 to stay in a separate room during the job. Curious toddlers pulling on ladder rungs or pets running underfoot are the #1 cause of avoidable slips during home visits.

Confirm PPE Check Before Pro Starts

Before the professional opens any toolbox, take 10 seconds to confirm they are wearing: hard hat, safety shoes, gloves, and face mask. Tap the PPE confirm button in WhatsApp/SMS — it takes one tap and triggers the safety check.

Verify Ladder Placement on Stable Ground

If ladder work is happening, confirm the feet are on flat, hard ground (not a doormat, wet tile, or loose gravel). The base should be 1 metre out for every 4 metres up. Never hesitate to ask the pro to reposition.

Ask for JSA Before Any Height/Electrical Work

For any work above 10 feet (fan, chandelier, roof) or any open electrical panel work, politely ask: "May I see the JSA sheet?" The pro will be prepared — this is a required document, not an extra.

Store Chemical Containers Separately — Do Not Mix

If cleaning products are being used, never pour bleach, phenyl, acids, or detergent into the same bucket or transfer them into food/drink bottles. Keep all original chemical containers sealed and stored upright in a locked cabinet away from children.

Ventilate the Area When Using Paints/Sprays

During painting, spray-painting, or epoxy work, open all windows, switch on exhaust fans, and keep doors ajar. Fumes from solvents can cause dizziness — if you smell strong paint thinner for more than 15 minutes, ask the pro to pause and ventilate further.

Inquire About Emergency Exit Route

During the on-site safety briefing, ask the pro to point out: (1) the nearest MCB switch location, (2) the nearest fire extinguisher, and (3) the closest exit door. Keep this exit route clear during the entire visit.

Maintain a 3ft Clear Passage Around Work Area

Always keep a minimum 3-foot (1-metre) clear passage around the professional's work area. This gives them room to react if something goes wrong and gives you a safe escape route in case of emergency.
